Have you ever asked yourself, “Why does it seem like some people get ahead and some do not?” Life can bring all of us unexpected drama from time to time. In our businesses, there can be ups and downs in any given month; but we must learn how to handle the unexpectant. When we see businesses like: Kentucky Fried Chicken, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Wal-Mart, and Microsoft; we never know what kind of struggles they had in the beginning of their business. We see them now, but we didn’t see the business in their infancy stage.
Every business has a story behind their success. I believe that we must first start with a “winning mindset.” Because there can be so many outside forces that try to work against our success, that if your mind isn’t set on winning, then you will stop, give up and quit every time something doesn’t work. There is a winner inside of you that you must tap into.
The word of God says, “That we are more than conquerors through Christ who strengthens us.” (Romans 8:37)
Whatever God births, He will provide. We must change our mindset that no matter what comes our way and no matter what we face, we are more than conquerors. That means, we can conqueror and overcome the obstacles that come with business.
One mindset we must adopt is “perseverance.” This is a person that has the ability to continue moving forward in business in spite of the obstacles, difficulties or oppositions. Your business will experience different seasons; and you must know how to whether the storms in your life and business. Begin to think ahead instead of always trying to play catch up. Be mindful of when your slow seasons are, so you can be prepared when that time comes.
Another mindset we must adopt is “confidence.” This is a person who demonstrates certainty about themselves and the product or service they are offering. This person is not afraid or intimidated with the competition and what they are offering. They are sure of themselves even in the face of obstacles. You must recognize that God is on your side and begin to consult Him as your CEO on decisions that you need to make. Your confidence is rooted in your ability to know that God is leading you and directing your steps.
I moved into my storefront location in 2005, not knowing that in 2008, the economy was going to go into a rumble. I had great success in 2005 – 2007; but when 2008 came around nothing was consistent. Knowing that God was my CEO and what He started He is able to finish; I never doubted my success. My mindset set on winning is what gets me through every season of the business. Every bill is paid and I’m still moving forward to greater things in the business.
As we approach 2012; we must make a demand on the word of God by confessing it over our business and watch God work. Challenge your mind to keep on believing no matter what you face. Challenge your mind to WIN in 2012.
